If, you also run an electric or hybrid vehicle, we can install an EV charge point and tune your own energy generation to take advantage of some very cheap tariffs on offer. Solar and Charge can help your get the best value solution for your home. Our family house package at £9,250 including solar panels, batteries and install is super value. Take action today to reduce your energy costs for the long term.
Take control of your energy spend
Spending money on energy is a one-way street – in the long run you get nothing back. As one of our customers pointed out, its like paying rent – you spend, but never own the property.
Investment in energy generation and use reduction schemes can have excellent returns. It is usually much in excess of the money borrowing cost. However the returns are spread over 10 to 25 years, but costs are usually front loaded… thereafter your returns steadily come in. Our value engineering and pricing means payback for your spend is usually around five years.
Ready to save up to 40% off your energy bill?
“Why would I rent when I can buy? That’s what I would be thinking with house ownership. The penny dropped for me when I started thinking the same way about my energy spend. Instead of a one way expense, I can pay towards owning the energy infrastructure! Sure, I won’t get to own a power station, but I can own my own slice of energy generation. Works for me!”

Our Mission
To give homes and businesses access to technology and innovative methods that save on energy costs. We will do this with excelling at the value provided and earliest payback on investment possible. In turn this will improve their CO2 profile. Our being best value will empower more homes and business to a lower CO2 future quicker.
How did we get here?
‘Necessity is the mother of invention’ … so the saying goes. When we faced tripling energy costs ourselves, we looked for help and went to market for solar and similar things. Annoyingly, all we found was semi-helpful ‘hardware’ installation proposals and nothing like the coherent energy strategy that we needed to combat the ‘cost of energy’ crisis we were experiencing.
At Solar and Charge, we had the chance to re-engineer everything that the industry was offering to meet these latest demands. So we did.
A fresh approach
We took the best of what was on offer in the market, added solutions as opposed to hardware, added innovation and sensible cost-effective fitting methods. Moreover, our low low overhead structure and our meticulous design approach, means we can offer unbeatable service, great value and the best returns for our customers.
We start by understanding what you need and are looking to achieve and overaly on it our promise of early payback. The investment has to make sense all round!
Things You need to decide on…

Case Study 1:
Larger house
This good size sized five bedroom detached house is a large energy user and the owners were particularly worried about rising energy costs. For the owner the key considerations were:
- reduction in energy bills
- reduction in per kWh rate by using more of the cheaper night energy
- five year payback
- reduced CO2 footprint
- potential for motoring costs using the free energy generation directed
The proposal
The team at Solar and Charge proposed a system that came in at below the £15K budget of the owner and included installing a well specified EV charge point.
Solar and Charge supplied and installed:
- 16 kw JA solar panels
- 8.2 kWh of Fox lithium batteries
- 6 kW hybrid inverter rating
- regulatory followup that allowed permission to export up to 6 kW power to grid
- Ohme home pro EV charging point
- fully fitted
The review after one year
All well and good, installing Solar and Charge system, but the “proof of the pudding is in the eating”. We were particularly keen to see if our promise of a 5 year payback held. So how did it fare at the one year review?
- Actual annual production was 10,370 kWh. very significantly higher than “standard” predictions.
- Beneficial rates: did the batteries do their job and give the customer access to cheap night rate electricity? Emphatically yes, with over 95% being bought at (extremely) cheap night rate
- Exports to the grid – about 6 months on we had to unshackle the exports limit and see permission for the grid to nearly double what we could put in
- Payback: judging by the first year, payback is ahead of the track
- reduced CO2 footprint: yes – about 2 tons worth!

Case Study 2:
Family home
This detached family home of of four bedrooms was under five years young. It was very well insulated. For the owner the key considerations were:
- reduction in energy bills
- reduction in per kWh rate by using more of the cheaper night energy
- vehicle charge point for their hybrid car and EV
- five year payback
- reduced CO2 footprint
The team at Solar and Charge proposed a system including a quality OHME home pro EV charge point. The proposal was below the £8K budget of the owner
The review after one year
How did it fare at the one year review?
- Actual annual production was 4,474 kWh. very significantly higher than “standard” predictions.
- Beneficial rates: did the batteries do their job and give the customer access to cheap night rate electricity? Yes
- Exports to the grid: more than half was exported
- Payback: Going by the first year, the owner is very likey to get their money back in around five years.
- reduced CO2 footprint: yes – about 1 tons worth!
